ELIE WIESEL TO SPEAK AT OPENING NIGHT
A once in a lifetime opportunity is coming to Vancouver on September 10th, when Elie Wiesel shares his story of hope and inspiration at the Federation Annual Campaign Opening. This is our community’s chance to experience firsthand the moving accounts of this Holocaust survivor and Nobel laureate, who is one of the most compelling and influential voices of our era.
At the age of 15, Wiesel, his parents and three sisters were captured by the Nazis, put into cattle cars and shipped off to Auschwitz. Within an hour of walking through the gates of the camp, he was separated from his mother and sisters, but managed to remain with his father. He and his father were later transported to Buchenwald, while his mother and younger sister perished at Auschwitz. MORE
