TEENS TAKE ON PHILANTHROPY PROJECT
The Federation Annual Campaign provided funding for a Youth Outreach Coordinator at the JCC. The position is in place to offer preventive programming, facilitate referrals for youth in crisis and to help young people form healthy relationships and connections that can provide a strong foundation as they move toward adulthood.
Sixteen local teens, in grades nine to 11 spent part of their summer participating in a philanthropy project through the CIT program at JCC’s Camp Shalom. The teens participated in a group process of learning about giving, non-profit organizations and functioned as a foundation board to review request for proposals, go on site visits and award a modest grant to a local organization.
Visiting Local Charities
The teens first engaged in an activity to identify the values that are most important to them, and identified justice, respect, and compassion as core values they believe in. MORE
